To help keep daily airport operations running smoothly, some federal workers employed by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, including hundreds of TSA officers at PDX, are designated as essential and are continuing to work without pay during the partial government shutdown.

To show our deep appreciation for our federal partners impacted at the airport, we placed donation bins near the stadium stairs in PDX’s new main terminal. Items can be dropped off at any time throughout the duration of the shutdown.

Items that can be accepted:

• Non-perishable food (canned goods, snacks, rice, pasta, and peanut butter)
• Household essentials (soap, cleaning supplies, laundry detergent, toothpaste, and pet food)
• Gift cards for $25 or less for groceries, gas, or major retailers (think Target, Fred Meyer, Safeway)

Items that cannot be accepted:

• Cash, checks, or cash cards
• Used, damaged, or unpackaged items
• Clothing
• Larger household items, like appliances
