Sunflower Lanyard Program
Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyards are available to travelers with hidden disabilities such as autism, PTSD, dementia, or hearing loss. Wearing a Sunflower lanyard lets airport employees and volunteers know that you may need extra help while traveling.
PDX travelers interested in a Hidden Disabilities Sunflower lanyard can pick one up at any airline ticket counter, or at the Travel Oregon Welcome Center in baggage claim.
The Autism Society of Oregon also offers Sunflower lanyards. Email to request one at least 14 days before your next trip: Info@AutismSocietyOregon.org.

Sensory Bags
Complimentary sensory bags are available to all travelers with sensory needs. Inside each bag, you’ll find a set of hearing protection earmuffs, fidget tools, a coloring book, crayons, a Sunflower Lanyard, a Plane Spotter Guide, and an Emotional Thermometer. Pick up a sensory bag at the Travel Oregon Welcome Center in baggage claim, or at the TSA supervisor desks at both the BC and DE security checkpoints.
Sensory Room
PDX’s sensory room is a place for travelers who may feel overwhelmed, overstimulated or just need a quiet respite from the sights and sounds of the busy airport. It includes tactile artwork, engaging lighting, floor furniture, and part of a real plane to practice the flying experience.
Our sensory room is located on Concourse D near gate D10. Find the sensory room on the airport map.
Therapy Dogs
We know travel can be stressful for many. Overseen by DoveLewis, our PDX dog therapy program works to provide calm and comfort to PDX travelers at PDX. Trained dog therapy teams can be found in different areas of the terminal, typically during the busiest travel hours at different locations throughout the airport, on a rotating basis. Learn more.
