PDX People make extraordinary service part of their daily routine. To show our appreciation for these efforts, we dedicate a week to celebrating and uplifting what makes PDX one of America’s Best Airports: YOU!
A Week of Exciting Events
This year’s celebration took place Sept. 19 – 24 and concluded with the annual PDX Excellence in Service Awards.
Throughout the week, events on the roadway and airfield featured local vendors Siempreviva, Churros Locos, Tillamook and Pepe Caliente serving up delicious food along with prizes and games for PDX People.
Between the scheduled activities, our Ambassadors of Fun team visited offices and off-site locations, delivering treats from DB Desserts, Mio’s Delectables and Joe Brown’s Caramel Corn.
All moments were special, but a few stood out: A new employee shared how excited she was to be part of the celebratory week with her co-workers. On the ramp, a manager came to grab treats for the crew stuck working late on a delayed flight. Another employee shared it was his first week at PDX and he had never experienced this kind of recognition at other workplaces. Each moment made it clear — PDX People are proud to work at the airport, and beyond that, proud of each other.
Recognizing Our Homegrown Superstars
The annual PDX Excellence in Service Awards closed the week. This event honors customer service Superstars from each of our partners — airlines, concessions, transportation and more — all nominated by their teams.
While last year’s festivities were a first — a drive-in movie — it was exciting to celebrate together at Rossi Farms. This year’s theme, Homegrown Superstars, paid homage to the employees who grow with us and make our airport better by rooting their customer service in the PDX People values: Being friendly, knowledgeable and respectful.
The honored Superstars, along with their families, gathered on a sunny Saturday to enjoy games, party llamas, food and drink from local favorites Phat Boi Tacos, Stoopid Burger, Ash Woodfired Pizza, Fifty Licks and Merit Badge, and of course, recognize their colleagues for their extraordinary efforts.
From roadway to runway and concourse to construction, your hard work and commitment to upholding our values are appreciated. Thank you, PDX People!
