What's New with PDX Next (Week of September 9)

Something to Smile About in September

Trees, views, local stores, a mezzanine to explore — the new PDX is here! And there’s still more to come.

In order to bring you the new PDX designs as soon as possible, we divided our work on the main terminal into two phases. Think of PDX as a “Wow!” in progress.

Once the terminal opened in August 2024, we said goodbye to the old security stations and post-security shops on the building’s north and south ends. During a few months this fall, while we remove the old ticket counters and give the front lobby its own glow-up, you may encounter temporary detours there.

Construction Impacts to Expect: September 9 - 15

To help you plan for what’s ahead, we’re updating this section weekly. If you'd like to receive these updates right in your inbox, subscribe to the PDX People newsletter.
North Ticket Lobby: Now through Friday, Oct. 4, there will be some closures and rerouting for passengers using the elevators in the north ticket lobby. Signage will redirect travelers to the south sky bridge and south ticket lobby to use those elevators. Escalators and stairs will still be available.
Phase 2: Curious about what’s happening in Phase 2 of PDX Next? In the August PDX Next forum, we got some behind-the-scenes info and a look into what’s going on behind the construction walls – watch the recording.
Sensory Room: Last week, the sensory room officially reopened, complete with cool new seating from our friends at Alaska Airlines. Check out the PDX in Pictures below for a look!
