Volunteer Information Program

Looking for a unique, fun volunteer opportunity in a vibrant environment that reflects the culture of our state? Join the Volunteer Information Program (VIP) here at PDX!

About us:

Nearly 20 million passengers come through the Portland International Airport each year, and our volunteers play a significant role in welcoming guests to the region and helping travelers get on their way.

Through the PDX VIP Program, volunteers provide information, wayfinding, and problem-solving to travelers every day of the week, from 8:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Our volunteers have served travelers in the following ways since 1993:

  • Staffing our information booths in the Baggage Claim Area, where they answer questions ranging from public transportation options to tourist attractions.
  • Walking the concourses to assist travelers with directions, flight information, lost and found, and other questions they have.
  • Supporting passengers in our international arrivals area, welcoming them to PDX.

Requirements:

Participants are required to volunteer 12 hours per month for one year (for a total of at least 144 hours in a year). Volunteers also must be at least 18 years of age and must pass a criminal background check.

Training and Onboarding:

Training and onboarding is held on an as-needed basis, generally semi-annually. Please fill out THIS FORM to be added to our waitlist. If you have other questions, you may email Mindy Coolidge, our Volunteer Manager.
