Disability Employment Awareness Month: Sunflower Lanyard Outreach

10/19/2022, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

Contact: Walt Marchbanks - 503-415-6267

You're invited to join PDX, in partnership with the Port of Portland's Support, Opportunities, Advocacy and Resources for Employees with Disabilities resource group, in celebrating Disability Employment Awareness Month. Keep an eye out in the terminal and the RCC for friendly faces handing out "I Support the Sunflower" lanyards and providing information on the Sunflower lanyard program.

The purpose of National Disability Employment Awareness Month is to educate about disability employment issues and celebrate the many and varied contributions of America's workers with disabilities. Since 1962, the movement has dropped the word “physically” from its title to include individuals with all types of disabilities. In 1988, Congress expanded the week and christened the month of October as National Disability Employment Awareness Month.
