Be Knowledgeable: Stay Safe at Work in Hot Weater

As the temperatures rise, it's important to take precautions to stay safe and healthy while at work. High temperatures can pose a risk to both you and your co-workers, but by following some simple guidelines, you can protect yourself and others from the potential dangers of hot weather.

  • Dressing for hot conditions in loose-fitting, light colored clothes
  • Drinking water every 15 minutes to stay hydrated
  • Taking frequent breaks in shady, cool or air-conditioned areas.

If you see someone who is experiencing headaches, dizziness and nausea (heat exhaustion) or dry, hot skin, confusion and convulsions (heat stroke), act quickly and get help. In case of emergency at PDX, call 503-460-4000. For non-emergencies, call 503-460-4747.

If you use TriMet to travel, keep an eye on their alerts page as temperatures above 90 degrees Fahrenheit may cause delays. Read more about hot weather how it affects TriMet.
